James Chalmers

Assurance

James Chalmers is Global Assurance Leader, an appointment he took up on 2 January 2018.

In this role, he focuses on further building the PwC network’s assurance capabilities and solutions for clients across the globe with particular emphasis on reinforcing trust and confidence in decision-making information, underpinned by quality and insight.

James has held various senior management roles in PwC. He was a member of the UK Assurance Leadership from 2002 to 2008 before being appointed to the UK Board in 2008, initially as Head of Strategy and then from 2011 to 2016 as Head of Assurance.  In 2013 he became Head of Assurance for EMEA. He has been a member of Global Assurance Leadership since 2011.

With over 20 years of experience as a partner, James has worked across many parts of PwC providing multinational audit, acquisition due diligence and IPO services. This client experience includes leading PwC’s global relationships with major listed and SEC registered clients.

He has also had extended secondments to a multi-national banking group providing leveraged finance to private equity transactions and in the healthcare sector where he worked on a large international merger.   

James graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
